The initiative will run for two weeks at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). While Delta Airlines remains tight-lipped on how customers are chosen, it's expected to be Delta's high-status frequent flyers or members of Delta 360°.
Delta Airlines and Porsche have been working together for 13 years. Last year it ran a similar initiative with Porsche United States loaning a 918 Spyder to Delta's Elite Services team at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL).
Delta also offers certain customers with a tight layover a tarmac transfer in a Porsche Cayenne.
Based on how the 918 Spyder initiative ran, Delta Airlines will notify its lucky 911 GT3 RS transfer passengers with a sign saying their name when they disembark the aircraft.
Locally the 911 GT3 RS has a sticker price of $537,600 before on-road costs. It's powered by a 4.0-litre naturally-aspirated flat-six engine, producing 386kW of power and 465Nm of torque.
It is capable of travelling from 0-100km/h in 3.2 seconds and has a maximum speed of 296km/h.
