Tamworth Lady Golfers opened their new season with charity and a lot of fun yesterday with  their Tamworth Hospital Auxiliary Golf Day. Sponsored by Wests Entertainment Group, the golf day raised $1800 for the TBH Auxiliary after 97 players teed off in the nine-hole stableford event, Tamworth publicity officer Leonie Daniels said. “We played on both sides of the course,” she said of the day where the field was split up, with one half playing one nine-hole part of the course and the other half playing the other nine holes. “That’s why we had eight winners,”  she said of a four- division competition. The Tamworth Hospital Auxiliary day is the traditional opening event of the new year for the Tamworth Lady Golfers  while next Thursday is the official opening day, when another nine-hole competition will ease the  members into 2013.
