More than 1500 people turned out to walk the 290 metre bridge, before it opens to traffic this Friday, weather permitting.
Member for South Coast Shelley Hancock and Ulladulla’s Denise Kemp cut the ribbon to officially open the $58 million piece of infrastructure.
“The community campaigned for the bridge for more than 25 years and this event is testament to their patience and a thank you for their hard work,” Mrs Hancock said.
“The community has watched closely as the new bridge was being built and it’s only fair they got a chance to walk across it before traffic is directed onto it.
“Roads and Maritime Services started building works on the new bridge in April last year and also deserve our thanks for their handling of the vital project.”
Final work being carried out includes pedestrian paths, car parking, fishing platform and removal of the old causeway and bridge.
