The showgirl entrants donned ball gowns on Saturday, February 10 for the annual Milton Showgirl Ball as part of their commitment to the competition.
Before the ball, the women spent the day at a community luncheon, where they took part in a farrier demonstration, cattle and horse sashing, formal interviews with judges, calf feeding and time socialising with teen showgirl contestants.
The evening saw a change from boots to ball gowns for the ladies to take to the stage for an interview in front of 150 guests.
The showgirl competition is a long standing tradition which recognises young womens’ work within local communities.
The six entrants, Emily Jane Joyce, Stephanie Kalemusic, Kiah Findley, Ebony Murray, Hayley Perrin and Arianne Ingold, were judged on personality, confidence, ambition, life goals, rural knowledge, presentation and speech.
“The judges spoke of the challenging task they had on hand to choose only one winner from a group of outstanding young women who are all making a wonderful impact on their community in their volunteer, career, family and social roles,” show society member Rachel Martin said.
“The evening was a wonderful celebration of women in the agricultural community and of traditions, growth, community involvement and fun.”
The winner will be announced at the Milton Show on Saturday, March 3 at 2pm.
