The RATS’ Sunday run was a local one taking in the bush tracks around town including the One Track For All, lighthouse as well as an inspection of the lighthouse under repair and finishing off with the Millards Creek track.
So many great vantage points to take in the natural beauty of the town.
This week a group of RATS will start training for a half marathon in September, there are some others working towards longer events in September, October and November.
The RATS’ new training program is actually a good time for new runners to join in on a Tuesday.
Regular sprint sessions will be two hundred metres repeated.
New runners can join in for as many or few as they like.
A new program and some inspiration from some of the more competitive runners should be a good combination.
June 5: In cold and windy conditions, Canberra based RAT Brad Croker won the Christchurch NZ half marathon in a new course record time of 1:05:38.
Brad beat a classy field convincingly and lowered his own personal best time of 1:06:50 in the process.
Of further interest is that Brad is considering the World Championships Marathon Australian selection trials later this year.
Brad's recent marathon PB of 2:17:28 is within the selection criteria.
If he can replicate that form and be in the first three males, he could be representing Australia in October 2019 at Doha, Qatar.
