There was big news on the Princes Highway this week. First, we were on the spot when a car veered off the highway into Lake Tabourie on Sunday afternoon. Fortunately, the elderly driver and passenger were pulled to safety and grateful for the coincidence that placed a group of lifesavers at the scene when the accident happened.
Then we got the exclusive of the NSW Government’s $10 million cash injection for Princes Highway safety improvements in the upcoming state budget. It’s a tiny first step in the right direction that will see a roundabout at the notorious Island Point Road intersection, as well as rumble strips, road barriers, safety signage and shoulder sealing south of Tomerong.
Congratulations are in order for Ulladulla High School student Tanaya North, who has has set her sights on a teaching career and will be helped on that journey with her Harding Miller Foundation Scholarship.
And, of course, we are all applauding the Queen’s Birthday Honours recipients up and down the South Coast. It’s great to see their contributions recognised.
Catch you next week.
