Recognising this, Shoalhaven City Council has voted to ease the burden on local farmers, with a rates holiday, a relief fund and a reduction in waste and water charges.
This comes as the protest by local dairy farmer Robert Miller gathers momentum. He is calling on supermarket chains to stop discounting milk and other agricultural products affected by the drought.
Last Friday saw the memorial service for Allan ‘Tully’ Tull, the pilot who lost his life fighting the Kingiman fire.
This week saw a couple of disturbing fire services come to light. It seems a fire bug is on the loose, with several suspicious blazes in and around Ulladulla, the latest in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
And, while the best of human nature was on display during the emergency, the worst was also at work, with cases of looting occurring.
We encourage everyone to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police when they see it.
