The Ulladulla Swimming Club’s summer season will start on October 1, as it wraps up a fantastic winter competition which has included medal hauls at the State Championships.
Sam Blake took home double gold in the 10/Under 50-metre freestyle and 100-metre freestyle at the State 12/Under Short Course Championships, while Chelsea Pheeney secured double silver in the 14 Years 100m and 200-metre breaststroke at the 13/Over State Short Course Championships.
Ulladulla swimmers are celebrating one of their most successful winter championship seasons, with a swag of top 10 finishes and plenty of personal best (PB) times as well.
The senior squad of 13 achieved 13 personal bests from 56 swims at the 2018 Swimming NSW 13/Over State Short Course Championships, placing 27th out of 117 clubs.
RESULTS:
Jackson Blake - five PBs and five top-10 placings; Lachlan Blake - five PBs ; Natasha Doberer - one PB in her debut at the State SC Championships; Callum Elliott - four PBs and one top-10 placing; Danielle Holt - one PB; Piper Hoyer - two PBs; Lachlan Knight - one PB; Karla McPherson - one PB; Clare Meacham - two PBs; Hollie Miles - four PBs and one top-10 placing; Chelsea Pheeney – double silver in the 14 Years 100-metre and 200-metre breaststroke plus two PBs and four top-10 placings; Archie Skinner - one PB (split time) in his individual debut at the State SC Champs; Jack Skinner - three PBs and three top-10 placings.
Ulladulla was also represented at the 2018 Swimming NSW 12/Under State Short Course Championships by Sam Blake, Matthew Hussey and Avara Salter.
As well as Sam’s double gold, Matthew had two swims for two PBs producing a top-10 finish in the 50-metre breaststroke, and Avara had three great swims wrapping up the meet with a 3.71 second PB in the 100-metre butterfly.
The swimmers were thrilled with their success and praised coaches Terry, Rachel, Marion and Aniek.
The local club championships presentation will be held on Sunday, October 13.
NEW MEMBERS WELCOME
Summer is the ideal time to join the club, with membership running from October 1, 2018 until September 30, 2019.
Keen swimmers can come and try three nights before signing up, and membership is free for kids under seven years as part of the Junior Dolphins Program.
Annual membership is $110 per swimmer, plus $40 membership for a parent or carer. The Active Kids Voucher can be used to register for Swim Club.
Swim Club runs every Friday night from 6.30pm at the Ulladulla Leisure Centre, where kids of all ages race in various events and have fun with their peers.
Being part of the swim club allows kids to enter carnivals around the state, if they want to, and also helps prepare them for school swimming carnivals.
Swim Club is a great way to meet new friends, keep fit and improve swimming skills and confidence.
Children of any skill level are welcome to join and races start from 15 metres, with the older swimmers on hand to encourage those who are less confident.
