The Ulladulla Rats Handicap Series moved to Narrawallee Flat last Sunday to compete in either 5km or 10km. Numbers were down due to injuries or members visiting family.
The 10km series is six laps of the Narrawallee Flat course. Although flat, the six repetitive laps test the runner’s mental strength to complete the distance. Craig Hancock ran a brilliant race coming in first in a time of 48.12. A new course record for the 50-55 male competitors. Second was Nicola Rabbett in a speedy 51:56. Another course record for Nicola. Third was Ian Robinson in a time of 58:02.
In the 5km series runners completed the course in three laps. We had three competitors running and two competitors walking due to injury. The Rats welcome Rhonda Salmon from England who finished her first Rats run in Australia after arriving on Thursday. She completed a 5km time trial in a great time of 28:07. First place in the 5km event went to Kevin Le with a net time of 24:21. Second place went to Janet Millwood in a time of 30:33 and third was Rose Robinson in a sharp 47:18 walk.
Kevin Le was the happy recipient of the lucky door prize, before the crew moved on to Tallwood for a well-earned coffee and a chat.
We look forward to hearing news from Mike Ryan who was participating in the MS Sydney to Gong bike challenge. A big shout out to Jack and Lorraine Robertson as they both recover in Sydney from surgery. We are all looking forward to seeing you back with the group Jack.
