Mollymook’s U/19 girls, Mookie Rookies (Kyla Wall, Mia Garin, Chloe Scott, Eliza Green and sweep Marty Drysdale) won their age category in the testing conditions. The Mollymook Vets A crew (Jon Hozack, Paul Newman, Kevin Whitford, Rod Austin and Gus Brook sweep) were awarded 2nd and the B Vets crew (Aaron Owers, John Holt, Simon Davies, Ryan Gough and sweep Marty Drysdale) were 3rd in their category.
Page said one of the main reasons numbers were down was that many crews were preparing for the Surf Boat World Championships held Adelaide in two weeks time.
There will be about eight crews from Mollymook Surf Life Saving Club participating, from the girls under 19 through to the Masters. It is an expensive exercise as each member pays their own way. This is a huge event with crews from all over Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii and across the globe.
Held every two years this huge event showcases the best in surf sports and rescue techniques
Club Vice-Captain Annette Chapman said the volunteers of Mollymook Surf Life Saving Club excelled on the weekend offering a very high standard of hospitality and services, from the rescue jet ski operators offering world standard water safety, equipment, catering, first aid and general administration.
