In pursuit of 415 for the outright win, ACT/NSW Country are 2/221 at stumps on day three, with opener Henry Hunt (95 not out) and Justin Avendano (56 not out) at the crease.
Earlier in the day, Victoria’s Jonathan Merlo posted his maiden Futures League ton – scoring 116 from 190 balls, including 17 fours and two sixes.
Victoria, which is captained by Nowra’s Nic Maddinson – who scored 38, was bowled out for 369 on day three, after it resumed at 6/226.
The hosts added a further 81 runs before they were dismissed in the 100th over of their second innings with a lead of 414 – with Engelbrecht (1/24) adding another wicket to his 5/14 in the first innings.
In their second innings, ACT/NSW Country made a fast start scoring at a run a ball in the first seven overs before Gilkes (24) became the first wicket to fall, leg before to Xavier Crone.
Hunt then added 102 for the second wicket in partnership with his captain Jay Lenton (40) before Crone claimed the wicket of the skipper.
ACT/NSW Country require a further 194 for victory.
