Zauner Construction is pleased to announce that it was awarded the contract to deliver Taronga’s $24 million African Savannah Project.
This new authentic precinct will replace existing giraffe, zebra, and meerkat facilities and create realistic new spaces for lions, giraffe, zebra, ostrich, meerkat and fennec fox species.
It’s the second Taronga Zoo project Zauner has been awarded. In 2017, the Ulladulla company built the $12 million Sumatran Tiger Trek Experience.
The iconic Giraffe exhibit with backdrop to Sydney Harbour and the Opera House will be maintained for the African Savannah Project with the new precinct comprising an African Waterhole area at the base of the Savannah.
Zauner South Coast construction manager Matthew Green said the company wss proud to continue the great relationship with Taronga Zoo following the success of the tiger trek project.
Construction began in December and is due for completion in Late 2019.
“The project is being run out of the Zauner Ulladulla Office and once again we are extremely pleased that our fantastic staff are flexible and willing to take on the challenge of another benchmark project for the business in Sydney,” Mr Green said.
