It's the second year that organisers of the walk have said all proceeds from the event will go towards the promising research into VMWD being undertaken at the Illawarra Health and Medical Research Institute (IHMRI) based at the University of Wollongong.
Mrs Burns said it meant a lot to her that people cared enough to support the cause and raise funds for research into the rare condition.

As of Tuesday, February 26, Mrs Burn had raised the most as an individual with $2,652 while The Hope for Holly Burns team had raised $5,220.
VWMD affects both Mrs Burns' daughter Holly and Illawarra girl Chloe Saxby.
There is no government funding it the rare condition, so it has been up to families to raise funds, Mrs Burns said.
"Thank you so much for your support. It means the world to Holly and myself," she said.
