The Milton-Ulladulla boys' under 18s Southern Junior League squad will be vying for a State Cup berth this weekend.
The squad - Ziad El Togby, Jesse Peters, Joey Brooks, Jordan Bandur, Cameron Pollet, Lavhy Franchi, Jonathon Taylor, Cameron Ellul, Lachlan Emslie and Nazar El Togby - coached by Cath Wells-Hewitt finished first on the ladder after three rounds of the under 18s division one competition.
The boys were undefeated against the likes of Goulburn, Illawarra, Shoalhaven, Wagga Wagga and Moss Vale, while splitting their two match-ups against Albury.
Through eight games of the 12-game regular season, Ziad was the team's leading scorer with 36 points per game, including a 54-point outburst against Moss Vale and two 40-point games.
Taylor, Franchi and Bandur have also eclipsed the 20-point mark throughout the regular season, with Taylor pouring in 31 against Goulburn in round two.
The boys will face Albury on its home court at the Lauren Jackson Sports Centre on Saturday, May 18.
Due to their dominant regular season, Milton-Ulladulla earned a second chance should Albury clip them in semi-final one. Wagga Wagga and Illawarra are in the third v fourth match-up with the winner to face-off against either Milton-Ulladulla or Albury in a preliminary final.
Milton-Ulladulla's sights are firmly set on winning the semi-final, but coach Wells-Hewitt said she won't be down if they lose.
"We've got to get past them [Albury]. If we don't have such a good game that's OK, because we're first, we have another go," Mrs Wells-Hewitt said.
The core of the squad has been coached by Mrs Wells-Hewitt since they were in their early teens with two new faces joining from Batemans Bay this year. Mrs Wells-Hewitt said she pleased to see their growth since they narrowly missed finals last year.
"We've improved, got a couple of other players which has helped with the team and guys are playing significantly better. I think it's case of them being the big boys of the competition this year and a growth in skill set."
The SJL final will take place on Sunday.
