Fire roared through first on the night of Monday, December 2, from the north-west, and again the following night from the south.
Today, our 110 acres at East Lynne wears a suit of black - with a belt of green where our buildings and gardens still stand. That's thanks to a legendary neighbour who scraped containment lines with his tractor at 3am by Dolphin torchlight on the first night and doused spot fires on the second. We are so grateful.
It's also thanks to clearings which acted both as firebreak and fire brake. We are so grateful.
