Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day will see mild temperatures, cloudy skies, light showers, and 20 to 25 km/h winds from Nowra to Bega, Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Abrar Shabren said.
Conditions have eased on the Currowan and Comberton firegrounds, however there was still active fire on Christmas Eve.
Temperatures across the South Coast would remain in low to mid 20s throughout the week.
Mr Shabren said easterly and southeasterly winds would push smoke from the South Coast bushfires towards the ACT.
On Christmas Day, rain would be light, with a 50 per cent chance of 0-2 mm in Batemans Bay and Nowra.
The rain was not associated with storms, but was isolated and patchy, Mr Shabren said.
On Christmas Eve, there was a hazardous surf warning for the Illawarra Coast.
Mr Shabren said while there were no warnings further south, it was important to regularly check the BOM website or app for warnings.
Boxing Day temperatures would remain in mid to high 20s, moving towards increased temperatures on Friday and the weekend, when a dry, hot air mass would move across the state.
Mr Shabren said there was possibility of some "heat wave activity" over the weekend and early next week.
Temperatures were forecast to hit mid the 30s on Saturday and 40s on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, December 29-31.
Clouds would decrease and there would be no rainfall.
There was a potential of wind increasing early next week with elevated fire danger risk on the South Coast.
Mr Shabren said to keep an eye on the Rural Fire Service website for updates.
