IN-FORM batsmen Nic Maddinson, from Nowra, has been added to the Australia A squad to face the England Lions, after Victorian teammate Will Pucovski's withdrawal due to his continued recovery from concussion.

The Bomaderry High School alumnus has been added to the 12-player squad for the clash at the Melbourne Cricket Ground after his man of the match performance for Victoria in their Sheffield Shield win against NSW.
These two knocks improve his average to 93 this season, including a top score of 224 - a stark contrast to his average of just 10 with the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League.
"No idea," Maddinson told Cricket Australia in regards to differing form between to tow formats.
"It's just one of those things.
"With preparation, I think I've learnt to have a bit more of a mental routine.

"Playing a lot of four-day cricket I feel like I've got a pretty good grasp on how I want to play now and I'm confident.
"In Big Bash, you're playing every second or third day and when you lose confidence and get on a run it's really difficult to get it back.
"I was playing really well in the nets, I put in a lot of hard work in it just wasn't happening for me on the ground."
Joining Maddinson, who played three Tests for Australia in 2016, in the squad, which will be skippered by Moises Henriques, are Jackson Bird, Harry Conway, Marcus Harris, Josh Inglis, Usman Khawaja, Michael Neser, Kurtis Patterson, Mark Steketee, Marcus Stoinis and Mitchell Swepson.
The four-day match between Australia A and the England Lions will start at 2pm on Saturday, February 22.
