At the event, run by the Ulladulla Community Resource Centre, four local women were recognised for their tireless community work.
Ulladulla Community Resource Centre manager Maria Mitchell said they had a great response to the event this year.
"Each year we celebrate the contributions women make to our community," Ms Mitchell said.
"We've had women who would volunteer and help with wildlife and bushfire disasters, BlazeAid and some volunteers that actually helped out at our centre as well."
Last month domestic violence was again in the forefront of peoples minds after the horrific murder of Hannah Clarke and her three children Laianah, Aaliyah and Trey in a car fire.
Maria Mitchell said events like International Women's Day were very important in the conversation around DV and she had already seen some positive signs.
"We've heard some great things about people who will step up and take responsibility and help someone else," she said.
"I think it has helped a lot to have events like this."
She hopes the event will help raise awareness about the services the Ulladulla Community Resource Centre offers and where women can go for help.
