Mayor of Shoalhaven City, Councillor Amanda Findley, is pleased to see the reintroduction of reusable cups in Council facilities.
"Keeping patrons and visitors safe is always a top of mind for Council staff in our facilities. That's why I'm so pleased to see that it's in a safe way whilst helping to reduce unnecessary waste going to landfill", Cr Findley said.
"Unfortunately, due to the impact of COVID-19 on workplace safety and hygiene practices, we have seen a huge increase in single-use plastics, including takeaway coffee cups.
"I am proud that Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre and the swim, sport and fitness facilities have received high 'scores on doors' hygiene ratings in their cafes and continue to meet the highest food service standards.
"I encourage residents to support local cafes who are returning to reusable cups and I hope that with Council leading the way, other cafes can feel confident in making the transition too."
