Mollymook personal trainer Jo Northwood recently reached out via social media to connect with people who may need a little extra help putting food on the table during the extended regional lockdown.
As a health industry professional, she knows the value of fresh, healthy produce and encouraged people in need to reach out, or others to nominate community members who could do with a helping hand.
Jo said the response was heartwarming.
"There were even a few people who wanted to anonymously donate money so I was able to add in some meat and even a little bit of chocolate for the kids," Jo said.
With her mums and bubs fitness classes on pause at the moment, Jo had a little more time on her hands and said she enjoyed shopping and putting together the parcels together. Along with her two young children, she personally delivered them to local families, and some older couples, in need.
While all deliveries were contactless, Jo said everyone was very appreciative. A young family at Ulladulla Public School also enjoyed the produce, after Jo was contacted by the school after putting the call out.
"Everyone was a genuine cause and it was really nice to be able to help in some small way," she said.
Jo has now wrapped up the initiative but said her thoughts are with all individual community members and small businesses during these tough times.
While she's currently able to host one on one personal training clients, her group classes are unable to run until restrictions lift. For all personal training enquiries, contact Jo on 0479 099 535.
