The popular Milton Showgirl competition is on again and is looking for girls aged between 18 and 24 to put their hands up and have a go.
The competition is aimed at promoting young women in rural communities.
There are no prerequisites, just a willingness to have fun and get involved in the local community.
Milton’s judging day and presentation evening will be held on Saturday, November 29.
There is no cost to enter and the winner will receive a $1000 prize as well as about $500 in vouchers from local stores.
A runner-up will also be named, and all women receive a gift for entering.
Thea Ingold was the lucky winner of the 2014 competition.
“It completely changed the way I thought about things as well as made me more confident with public speaking and talking to people around town,” she said.
The entrants get to immerse themselves in the Milton Show, this year to be held on Friday, February 20 and Saturday, February 21.
Thea described her showgirl sash as an access all areas pass to the show.
As the winner, Thea got to attend the zone competition, which Milton hosted earlier this year.
“It was just great to see how diverse everyone is. There was a butcher, law students and a girl who makes hats for Melbourne Cup Day. It was amazing meeting all of them,” she said.
Thea encouraged any woman considering the challenge to take the plunge.
“You should just do it. It’s a great challenge and is really worth it as you meet plenty of lovely people. You never know where it could take you,” she said.
