At St George’s Basin organiser Ron Satchell is putting out the call for any motorcyclists and drivers between Wollongong and Ulladulla to tune up for a 10 o’clock start from the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre car park in Nowra, finishing at the Milton-Ulladulla ExServos Club.
Afterwards the ExServos will host live music, a sausage sizzle, coffee and tea.
There will be car and motorcycle displays with trophies for the best vehicles and a load of giveaways.
Budawang principal Sheryl Bruffey has already devised the list of purchases she’s hoping to fund, particularly a special needs app for students called Proloquo2go, compatible with iPad tablets.
“We’ll also put our share to ground improvements and to our horse riding program,” Ms Bruffey said.
Noah’s Ark fundraising coordinator Lynn Burns is aiming to start buying books for a parents’ resource library.
“Things like explanations of different disabilities and providing coping mechanisms,” Ms Burns said.
“These books are very hard to find in public libraries because they’re very specific and often expensive.
“The web can provide good information but if we’ve got the books [on site], staff can talk things through with parents.”
Mr Satchell said everyone is welcome to participate and pay the five dollar entry fee on the day or make any other donations.
Before an ignition key has been turned, the charity ride is predicted to succeed and discussions have started to organise it again next year.
This year’s sponsors include GSM Motorcyles, Pedersens Motorcycles, Magnums Modern Relic Cycles Wollongong, St Georges Basin Taxis, Coffee Garage Wandanian and Frankies Auto Electrics Nowra.
