THE Milton Ulladulla Polocrosse Club travelled to Bungendore for the Canberra Royals Carnival on the weekend.
Seven players ventured over for the carnival.
The team consisted of Luke Wilford, Julie Murray, Heath Cole, Toni Murray, Leon Murray and Sally Herne. Kim Porter subbed into a Canberra Royals mixed team.
Saturday saw an early start for our team up against a strong Moss Vale, Eurocoast combination.
With Toni and Julie both playing strong number ones the goal count climbed.
Toni was wonderful to watch as she improves every week.
Julie was back playing a position she has had a break from, and she was inspiring to watch.
Leon and Luke both worked hard in the three position and foiled the opposition’s efforts at goal scoring.
Heath and Sally both blocked the opposition’s players to create corridors for their number ones to get to their areas.
The last game of the day was against Yass which has a number of strong young players and it was again a tussle to gain the upper hand. Great work team.
Sunday saw the team face two teams from Bungendore.
The first team was young players so Heath and Sally switched to the defender positions for a change of pace. Great lessons were learnt by both players and another win was recorded.
The last game of the round was against the stronger Bungendore side.
With Heath and Sally staying in their new positions, lessons learnt from the morning were put into action and although the team went down by two goals a great game was played by all.
Both new defenders worked hard and blocked their opposition numbers well.
Toni and Luke were outstanding as number ones, Toni Murray scored an outstanding goal taking the ball from one area to score at the other end brushing off challengers as she went.
Luke Wilford had his little horse moving beautifully in his area, well done Luke.
Leon and Julie Murray were the settlers in the midfield, instructing their team mates on positions and appropriate plays.
With three teams in the division on three wins, one loss, Milton who ran out winners on goal difference. Well done team, a great weekend.
Kim Porter subbed in for the Canberra Royals and found herself playing the number two position.
She was invaluable as a blocker, holding up the opposition in the midfield giving her one and three the chance to brush up on their attacking skills. Well done Kim.
Drew Morton was our only sub junior for the weekend and he showed how much he had stepped up with his skills.
He is moving his horse quickly around the field and marking his opposite player very well. Well done Drew all the practice is paying off.
Congratulations Milton for another great weekend, off to Hall next weekend.
Thanks to Matthew Shea for the wonderful birthday cake, it was great to share your 18th birthday with you.
