
Detectives are appealing for information after a young girl was indecently assaulted during a break-in at Lake Tabourie on Tuesday night.
Just after 10pm, police were called to a home at Lake Tabourie, following reports an 11-year-old girl had been indecently assaulted.
Police were told the girl was home alone, and at some time between 8.45pm and 10pm, an unknown man entered the girl’s bedroom and indecently assaulted her.
The man left the home when the girl’s mother drove into the driveway. The incident was reported to the girl’s mother who contacted police.
Officers from Shoalhaven Local Area Command attended and conducted an extensive search for the man; however, he was not located.
A crime scene was established at the home, which was examined by specialist forensic officers.
Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse Squad, with assistance from local police, are investigating the incident and are appealing for assistance to identify and locate the man.
The man is described as being of a large build, and at the time of the incident, he was wearing a long dark-coloured coat.
Investigators are urging anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area, or who has information that may assist, to come forward.
