A free soup and film night will be held in an effort to continue educating people about food waste.
The event comes off the back of Plastic Free July, which was embraced by local environmental group Take 3 for Sea and the Gaia Farmers Market.
The environmental push is encouraging residents to be more aware about what products they are consuming that may result in harmful plastics ending up in the environment.
The film to be shown on the night follows Canadian food lovers, Jen and Grant who examine the issue of consumption and wastage by surviving solely on food waste for six months.
Deliciously entertaining and deeply shocking, the film looks at the way we grow, cultivate and purchase our food, and how the food we throw away is having a devastating effect on the earth.
After the film, soup will be served made from food that would normally be considered waste, putting the issue literally on the table.
