Mollymook Beach, Lake Conjola, Narrawallee Inlet, Bendalong, Lake Tabourie, Ulladulla, Termeil and Bawley Point all have community groups registered to clean on Sunday, March 5.
There are four clean up days in 2017 including Tuesday, February 28 for businesses, Friday March 3 for schools, Sunday March 5 for the community in addition to a youth clean up throughout the entire weekend.
In 2016 14 community groups participated in Clean Up Australia Day including 31 members of Lake Conjola Fishing Club.
Group leader Rod Sydenham said it is an important initiative the community can support.
“It is a great day, once a year, to brighten up our environment,” he said.
“We have been participating for six to seven years, with everyone welcome to join.”
Clean Up Australia Day founder and chairman Ian Kiernan is calling all Australians to help remove the waste accumulating on our streets, beaches, waterways and bushland.
“The best way to start is to take a look around you,” he said.
“You’ll be amazed at how much rubbish is lurking in the bushes, along tidelines, running tracks and picnic spots.
“Together we have removed the equivalent of 331,000 ute loads of rubbish.”
During 2016 more than 750,000 volunteers removed the equivalent of more than 16,000 ute loads of rubbish.
