Milton Ulladulla Bulldogs
Our U16s girls set out from Ulladulla full of excitement and confidence, travelling to a very windy and cold Mick Cronin Oval in Gerringong to take on Stingrays Gold in their first ever grand final. Unfortunately the game did not go the girls way with the final score 26-10 to Stingrays.

The club and all of your supporters are all so proud of each and every member of the team, as you have written another chapter in the book for the Doggies league tag teams. Several of the girls have been with us since we started this journey three years ago, being part of the inaugural team we entered in the U14s competition.
Paul who has also been there from the start as the ever so patient coach, we thank you all for your participation and service to the Doggies over those years both on and off the field.
Each year our girls league tag teams are growing stronger and we are glad that you all have been able to be such a significant part of it all.
At home on Saturday we also hosted the last round of the international competition and we were lucky enough to have all four grades draw home matches.
The first up match was our U13s against the Berry Gong team. This was a repeat match up of a game two weeks ago which saw the Berry Gong team run away winners. This weekend it was a different story, despite the boys losing Ethan to injury during the warm up and then only having one reserve they went onto the field with Doggie fighting spirit.
With less than 5 minutes to go the score was locked at 10 all and the Doggies where attacking Berry Gong’s line. A high tackle was made by one of the Berry gong players which saw a penalty awarded and the coaching staff immediately instructed the boys to take a shot at goal.
Lachie landed the goal and the Doggies were ahead 12-10. Eetermination and team work saw them hold out their opponents securing the Doggies a place in the finals. The try scorers where Sam England and Arun Robertson with Lachie Barr kicking 2 from 3.
The next match was our U14s who were down on numbers. We had 11 gallant Doggies take to the field against the ladder leading and undefeated Gerringong team. The boys did not let that deter them at all and played like men.
By half time due to injury the team were down to 9 players and instead of throwing in the towel these boys went back onto the field to take on the 13 Gerringong players, who also have a full bench of reserves to rotate throughout the game. These boys did themselves and the club proud holding their opponents to only 28 points and even managing to break through Gerringong’s defence to score during the second half (try scorer Jye Hendrie and conversion by Caelum Elliott). The final score was Gerringong 28–6.
The U15s also took on the ladder leading Wests in Saturday’s match, Wests had also not lost a match all season. Despite Wests getting an early 12-0 lead in the opening ten minutes of the match the team did not give up nor let each other down. Riley Wooden even showed his strength and determination to cross for the Doggies only points, despite going down 28-4 boys you should all be so proud of each other.
Our U16s who were due to play their final home match on their home turf were forfeited on by Helensburgh very late the night before. This was a disappointment for team and their supporters as they had been looking forward to playing the last round of the season at home in front of their family and friends as well as getting a good hit out before going into the finals. However that all turned around when it was confirmed later that night that Ulladulla was hosting an international semi-final next weekend and the boys had drawn a home semi.
So Doggies families, friends and supporters both our U13s and U16s have drawn home matches for their do-or-die semi finals, we need you all to get along to Ulladulla Sports next Saturday and cheer the boys home. The U13s are playing at 10am against Warilla and the U16s are playing Helenburgh at 1.45pm.
For the U13s with the north and south structure of their competition this season they have not played Warilla this season, nor have they had the opportunity to see them play.
For the U16s we are sure that despite the forfeit last weekend Helensburgh will make the trip this weekend (their first ever time to Ulladulla in four 4 years) and our Doggies will be ready for the big match but we want everyone there to support them.
Presentation day has been set for Sunday 24th September at the Sea Salt Function centre at the Ex Servos, this is the first weekend of the school holidays however we are hoping that everyone will be able to attend and show their support and respect to all Doggies for their efforts throughout the season.
Training shorts are now in stock and are also perfect for spending the summer in. They are $30 per pair and we have a large variety of sizes, they are available through the canteen along with other great items of Doggies merchandise. If you are interested in purchasing any items please contact Sharon on 0406 977 101.
Our weekly meat raffles at the Ex Servos continue to surge along and this week we ask for the parents and families of the U16s to come along and support and assist us with the raffles. Ticket sales commence at 6pm, with the draw for the 40+ meat trays commencing at 7pm. By supporting our raffles you in turn are supporting our major sponsors of Ulladulla Ex Servos and Sea Salt Restaurant, the club has lots to offer on Friday night apart from our raffles, there is the kids club, great value meals in the Sea Salt Restaurant.
Keep up to date on all things Junior Doggies via Facebook and our website.
