It was trying conditions with strong winds threatening to cause a delay in play during the 1st round but the winds didn’t peak as high as forecasted so the event ran smoothly. Local members put in a massive volunteer effort to help clear debris from the wild winds during the week leading up to the event.

It was a compacted leaderboard with 3 players tied on 2 over par after round one including Jeremy Fuchs, Dean Van Kampen and Bradley Doherty. Young local member, Jye Halls had the best score from Division 2 with a great score of 80 in the tougher side of the draw in the afternoon.

It was another great event for Mollymook Golf Club with more course improvements now complete, the club now looks forward to the senior PGA professionals returning to Mollymook later this year for the NSW Senior PGA Championship at Hilltop on October 20-21.
Mollymook’s director of Golf, Barry West, said “last year we won the title of the Best Senior Pro-Am event in Australia and we’ve been nominated every year so the pros really enjoy the challenge of the Hilltop course and the welcome they get from the sponsors and local Mollymook members. We will host the strongest professional field this year compared to the last 4 years.”
