The 12 white umbrellas will not be replaced immediately, but will be included in future streetscape plans.
“[They are] unsightly at the moment and people can get wet when it rains,” a council spokeswoman said.
“[We are removing them after] a request from a business owner as they didn’t look nice.”
The spokeswoman said future streetscaping will “improve the look” of the street.
“The current umbrella replacement parts are not available, hence why they are being removed,” she said.
All businesses in the street received a letter about the removal of the structures on Wednesday, August 23.
