Project manager for the Burrill Lake Bridge project, Peter Townsend said construction is well-underway for a new foreshore area.
“It’s a beautiful community precinct coming together,” he said recently.
“The foreshore area is currently being constructed from Australian timber and sandstone.
“It will be an amazing place for people to come and fish and have fish and chips.”
To minimise disruption to motorists, work continues to be carried out at night between 6pm to 4.30am Monday to Friday until Saturday 24 February, weather permitting.
Work is being continued approximately seven nights a week and includes completing the northern and southern roundabouts to improve connectivity between the highway and local roads.
Since the new bridge opened to traffic in late September, recent work includes the start of demolition of the former bridge and causeway, completion of the utility relocations and ongoing works on the shared pedestrian paths.
Current work includes completion of the demolition of the former bridge and causeway, the roundabouts on the north and south of the new bridge, local road accesses and parking spaces and completion of the southern foreshore park and platform, remaining landscaping works and removal of the site office.
Work on the Burrill Lake Bridge project is expected to be complete in coming months.
The pedestrian and off road cycle path on the new bridge will connect to new paths on both sides and link to the Ulladulla cycle path.
