Chris and Noel from Turnbull Brothers Antiques Milton, professionally appraised and valued club members’ special treasures, contributing their immense knowledge of antiques and old wares.
View Club publicity officer Marilyn Townsend said there were quite a few interesting items among the small group of members.
Items included “a tiny French porcelain doll, historical documents and books, an exquisite jewellery piece, decorative containers and vases, china and crockery, silverware including an antique cigarette case with a cigarette roller, war memorabilia such as an opium pipe and a cake server made from bullets with a special button on the handle and to top it all off, a very pretty gazunda”, Ms Townsend said.
“Chris was commenting on their beginnings as antique dealers in 1982 saying that, back then, ‘Antiques were at the top of the tree’, but, nowadays, the youth of today don’t seem as interested in inherited antiques.”
Ms Townsend said the group appreciated the time Chris and Noel dedicated to the club, providing a “very entertaining” evening.
“Chris and Noel’s Antique and Old Wares Shop in Milton is not only a stroll down memory lane, but a fabulous treasure trove of historic items housed in Milton’s original old cordial factory,” she said.
