The murals, painted by Milton artist Julie Sydenham, are a Take 3 for the Sea project and were funded by Shoalhaven City Council.
The artwork on the Ulladulla Harbour toilet block is well underway, while the Mollymook artwork is set to be painted onto the toilet block at the northern end of the beach.
“Shoalhaven City Council has partnered with not-for-profit organisation Take 3 by the Sea to raise awareness of litter and plastic pollution in our oceans,” a council spokesperson said.
“Approximately $5,000 from Shoalhaven City Council’s Graffiti budget was spent on the murals. The aim is to prevent graffiti and help promote the local Take 3 for the Sea project.”
The council spokesperson said the murals were a proven way to combat and reduce graffiti.
“[They also] promote a sense of place within the community,” they said.
“Shoalhaven City Council has introduced murals at various locations throughout the city which are high graffiti prone sites and will continue to do so.”
