From vast rural landscapes to small cottage gardens, thousands of visitors come to Berry every year to enjoy the gardens, which are selected for their design, plant varieties and creativity.
Sarah Musto’s garden will be open for the first time this year, and her vegetable patch promises to be a feast for the eyes.
“I’ve been working on the garden for 10 years,” she said.
“[The veggie patch] was the first thing I put in and it’s my true love and passion.”
While Ms Musto hopes her garden inspires visitors to grow their own food, the dry conditions have made preparation for the event difficult.
“I’m just trying to grow things that are a bit more drought tolerant like roses and irises, I find they go okay,” she said.
“But most of my water I will be putting in the veggie garden and the rest needs to look after itself.”
Each year, the festival raises approximately $40,000 which goes to local charities and not-for-profit groups.
The gardens will open from 10am to 4pm daily until October 21. Tickets will be on sale at all gardens and Apex Park.
