Non-useable goods dumped at an Ulladulla not-for-profit organisation is costing it thousands of dollars each year.

Over the Christmas and New Year period volunteers of the Uniting Outreach centre found non-useable goods and rubbish dumped nearby their overflowing skip bin.
Rubbish has included paint tins, a dead animal, a bath tub and used nappies, Uniting Church Ulladulla chairperson Fay Kastelein said.
Ms Kastelein said the rising costs to dispose of the goods could be put to better use in the community. The centre can not accept electrical goods or furniture either.
“The rubbish we place in the skip, which is emptied once a week and over the holiday period twice a week, is costing the organisation thousands of dollars each year,” she said.
“We are grateful to the public for the enormous donations that are made each day. However the amount of non-useable goods, which are being dumped is causing a lot of concern.
“We are sad to say this money could be put to better use in the community and the charities we support.
“Our policy is we offer goods that we would buy.”
The Outreach Centre, next to the Uniting Church in North Street, Ulladulla, supports the Ulladulla Resource Centre, offers scholarships to Ulladulla High School year 11 and 12 students, clothing for Parramatta Men’s Home, goods for Africa along with individual help for people of the district.
“The Reaching Out group from the church supplies beanies and scarfs throughout winter to the homeless and hygiene packs all year,” Ms Kastelein said,
Last year the Uniting Church Presbytery approved an extension of the building, offering far more serviceable areas for the book department, clothing and household goods.
“A room where people will be able to talk in private will be a great asset,” Ms Kastelein said.
“There is also a more manageable drop off area and the car park, which is very muddy in wet weather, will be sealed. The plans were submitted to council last November; we are waiting on their approval.”
During renovation the Outreach Centre will operate from downstairs at the church hall.
“We ask you the public to please be respectful with what you donate,” Ms Kastelein said.
“Any one wishing to join the happy team of volunteers call in and speak to one of the supervisors, forms are available for application.”
