Boaties safety was slightly better over the past year, reports Marine Rescue Ulladulla.
Marine Rescue Ulladulla’s Unit Commander Dave Hall said the unit conducted less rescues over 2018 compared to the unit’s average.
“As summers go, it’s been pretty good safety wise. Normally we do 50 to 60 rescues per year,” he said.
“That averages out to one a week. I counted probably high 40s last year.”

Although some people were still not following Marine Rescue’s safety guidelines.
“It’s been slightly better [over the past year], but we still see a lot of boaties going out there without their life jackets, or they don’t log on with us,” he said.
Mr Hall was also pleased to announce a new three-year sponsorship deal with the Milton Ulladulla ExServos Club and Bendigo Community Bank.
“It was the result of a lot of hard work, but to have some financial burdens taken off us, or relieved, is great.”
