It is almost three years since the Milton Maternity Services Working Party and Steering Committee commenced the fight to restore maternity services to Milton.
Committee member Rebecca Cameron said community representatives have attended "countless meetings" and have worked hard with ISLHD to bring about the provision of level two birthing services.
"Unfortunately we have not been able to reach our goal, partly due to a lack of obstetricians willing to work in rural and regional areas," Mrs Cameron said.
Consulting specialist Dr Henry Murray will be in attendance at the meeting, along with ISLHD CEO Margo Mains.
The public meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 2. Doors open at 10.45am, for a 11am start at the Milton Ulladulla ExServos Club.
