Mollymook Men
CHAMPIONSHIPS: The much delayed final of the Mixed Fours championships was played last Sunday, albeit in very cold, blustery conditions. Nevertheless there were some very good bowls played. The team of Dave Clark, Graham & Kaye Smith with Janine Boyd kept pace with Dave Henry's team Kaye & Graham (Road Block) Smith & lead Lyn Dobel for the first two thirds of the game, being only 16/13 down after 14 ends. However they then got stuck on 14 for five ends allowing the Henry team to advance to a 25/14 lead with two ends to play when suddenly a 7 against them put the score at 25/21. The last end was a big ask for a win (but possible but not to be) for the Clark team. Final score 27/21. Well done Dave, Chris, Kerrie & Lyn, a good game. MAJOR SINGLES: Due to pennants grades Four & Six final matches for the year last Saturday the second round will be played this Saturday. An early match however has been played by Dan Prestage & Mike Keegan. It lasted for 39 ends! Dan led 18/16 after the 20th but it was all square (22 all) after the 28th. As often happens; Dan got to a 28/23 lead but got stuck on that score 28 for 5 ends whilst Mike advanced his to 27. In the end Dan prevailed, final score 31/27. Re the Presidents Pairs Brian Thurecht & Andy Jarvis starting on 126 have defeated Craig Lees & Mark Sommerville also on 126 & entered the final with a 0/12 win. Pennants: The 4's away at S.G.B lost 9/1; The 6'S away at Ex Servo's were defeated 10/0 & that was that for the season. Thanks to all managers & umpires & selectors for their efforts.
SOCIAL: The Wednesday Triples saw the Menace, Big Bionic Bob & Scoop take out the lucky rink vouchers with a 19/12 win. Friday's Open Pairs jackpot at $880 was not won despite their prayers of Peter Champion & Col Milligan; the $120 prize not surprisingly went Brian & Andy; Nick & Dave Bradshaw claimed Marks SHOUT & the Keno voucher to John Venn & Snow Dillon.
