With just a week left to vote Lachlan Rombouts is hoping people from the South Coast electorate back the inclusive and interactive community garden planned for the Yulunga Reserve at Manyana.
"It's about increasing community connection and human to plant connection," he said.
"With that comes a sense of belonging."
Mr Rombouts has plans to make a space where residents and visitors can share knowledge, harvest healthy fruit and vegetables, process garden waste and utilise the goods for future events at the reserve.
The garden would include a walkaround fruit orchard with annual raised beds.
The project seeks $30,000 from the My Community Project program, sponsored by the NSW Government.

Funds would kick-start the idea. A mulcher, timber, fences, animal proofing and fruit trees would be purchased.
Using permaculture principles, the project will regenerate soils via organic and sustainable methods, create habitats for wildlife as well as food for sharing, for an "easier, more enjoyable life".
The Red Head Villages Association support the idea, which Mr Rombouts has planned for the past six to nine months.
Another project up-for-vote in the Southern Shoalhaven is a Memorial Obelisk for frontline personnel, including pilots David Black and Allan Tull, who died protecting the region from bushfire.
Burrill Lake's Sandy Lanham suggested the memorial idea. The memorial would be placed at the Ulladulla Civic Centre.
Residents in the South Coast electorate can view eligible projects and vote online at mycommunityproject.service.nsw.gov.au or by visiting their Service NSW centre.
Voting concludes on Thursday, August 15 with successful projects to be announced from September.
A total of $24.4 million is available for eligible projects, with between $20,000 and $200,000 available for each project.
