For the second time in four months, Australian Community Media has inquired about the project's progress and for the second time in four months we have been given the same press release - almost completely word for word.
Again Health Infrastructure can't or won't commit to an actual starting date, saying "work would start in this term of government".
The next state election is 2023.
The word ACM is hearing is don't expect construction to begin in the next two years.
The project is "in the planning stage" according to a Health Infrastructure spokesperson with "clinical services planning progressing to confirm the range of health care services the new hospital will provide and the size of the facility."
Health Infrastructure says no plans or conceptual drawings have been done or are available but ACM understands drawings showing at least two five-storey tower buildings have been circulated.
The master plan for the site, released in June 2018, however, did not depict any towers.
Repeating their statement from November 209, Health Infrastructure says "planning such a large development takes a considerable time to ensure we have opportunities to comprehensively consult with staff and the community" - plus "obtain valuable input."
"Detailed analysis will be undertaken and site options developed to inform the optimal solution for the redevelopment to best service the needs of the broader South Coast Community," the spokesperson said.
"Community and stakeholder engagement will be undertaken during this period to ensure the analysis is comprehensive."
"The NSW Government continues to invest in our regional hospitals and the $434 million redevelopment of Shoalhaven District Hospital will significantly improve healthcare services for residents of the South Coast,"
Some other good news, parking at Shoalhaven Hospital has been enhanced with a new $11.8 million multi-story car park project which opened in December 2019, with additional ongrade car parking spaces will also be completed in the coming months.
The press release ended - "Building hospitals and healthcare facilities is a complex operation, to find out more click - here - " ACM did and reached: "Page not found - Sorry, we were unable to find the page you requested."
