BOAT SHED NOT WANTED
Councillor Gash has recently been on 2ST pushing her propaganda that the people of Burrill Lake and especially Lake View Drive are divided over the Mollymook Outrigger Canoe Club's DA to put two shipping containers on a huge concrete slab with a giant aluminium annexe across it all, in a public reserve.

I live in Lake View Drive, I have spoken to almost everyone along the street and surrounds. I can assure you there is no division of opinion. No one wants that monstrosity in the public reserve and Cr Gash has spoken to no one here on this issue in almost five months.
As council have been told time and again, Barker Reserve at Burrill Lake is not an adequate site for this boatshed.
The reserve has no public conveniences, there is no adequate parking, the kids' playground will be torn down and removed with no guarantee of it being replaced, as the council has no funds to replace it for the kids.
Council has voted down the DA application for this boat shed twice now, but Cr Gash keeps forcing it back with rescission motion after rescission motion.
Sadly, Cr Gash seems determined to ensure that Barker Reserve becomes Mollymook Outrigger Park, but the local residents are just as determined to ensure that never happens and we are more than prepared to take it to the Land and Environment Court and any other court necessary, until this DA is finally rejected.

BENEFIT LOCALS FIRST
How ridiculous. This is not a gift. This is a waste of ratepayers' dollars. You do realise that more then half the owned properties in our area are holiday and investment homes. Spend the money on things that will benefit the Shoalhaven not the richer.

EXPLAIN THE WAGE FREEZE
It is alarming that the NSW State Government is indicating its intention to refuse a 2.5 per cent wage increase to nurses, teachers, police officers, paramedics and child protection workers, the very workers who have kept us safe during and after catastrophic bushfires, floods and the COVID-19. Now is the time to stimulate our economy and recognise the work all these wonderful people do for our community.
The NSW government can raise its ranks of senior executives by 150 as well as huge pay rises for certain positions.
Can the state Members for Kiama and the South Coast explain to our electorates where they stand on this issue? If they are supporting the wage freeze, please explain why. If they are not supporting, then will they cross the floor in parliament when the vote is counted.

BETTER SPENT ELSEWHERE
I would like to see the people who lost their homes in the fires or floods be reimbursed. Also money to go to TAFE to teach people in new skills who have lost their jobs aged from 20 to 60. I think it is worth my sacrifice to help others who have nothing.

GET BACK TO BASICS
What school of management and economics did the Councillors attend who voted for giving $300 per ratepayer and thought borrowing $17 plus million dollars was a good idea ?
My other point is this. why is this council (and many others around Australia) in the business of direct competition to private business? And yet the core business of infrastructure like roads, drainage, footpaths and social care of those in need is neglected?
Sell your multi million dollar business of owning caravan parks to private business, inject the funds into core Council and ratepayer needs ...get back to your basic core business.
