The official opening of the new $24m African Savannah Precinct was held recently.
The Taronga African Savannah project is a world-class, state-of-the-art, authentic African Savannah environment constructed in the heart of the existing Taronga Zoo.
The new precinct measures 2.6ha and has replaced the outdated giraffe, zebra, and meerkat facilities, and created new exhibits and back of house facilities for lions, giraffes, zebras, ostriches, meerkats and fennec fox species.
South Coast Construction Manager, Matthew Green says it's a credit to the local Ulladulla team who travelled to Sydney to deliver such a landmark project for the Zoo.
"We are extremely pleased with our achievement in having successfully completed another project of this complexity and significance for the Taronga and world Zoo community," he said.
"Taronga Zoo is one of Australia's premier tourist attractions and to construct in such a live environment is such a credit to the team."
This project follows on from the successful completion of the Sumatran Tiger Trek at the Zoo in 2017.
Presently the Zauner South Coast office is delivering significant local projects, including the Ulladulla Health One facility, the Braidwood Central School upgrade and other projects across the region.
