Motorists yesterday [Monday] going from Ulladulla to Burrill Lake were greeted by a flashing speed limit sign saying the new limit was 70 km/h.
However, on the actual road, in large white markings, motorists were told they could still go 80 km/h.
So is it 70km/h or 80km/h?
Well it's still 80 km/h but this will change early next month.
"The existing speed zone of 80 km/h between Ulladulla and Burrill Lake is still in place and will change to 70 km/h on Wednesday, November 4 2020," a Transport for NSW spokesperson said.
"Transport for NSW understands signage for the new speed zone was installed before Wednesday, November 4.
"This was quickly removed and we apologise for any inconvenience caused."
A Transport for NSW spokesperson explained why the existing 80 km/h speed limit, from 150 metres south of Pitman Avenue at Ulladulla to 400 metres north of McDonald Parade at Burrill Lake would be changed to 70 km/h.
"Transport for NSW completed a speed zone review following concerns raised by residents and in consultation with local council and police," the spokesperson said.
"This change improves safety in the area and better supports all road users."
Transport for NSW carried out the review in accordance with the NSW Speed Zoning Guidelines, which considered a number of factors including roadside development, traffic data and crash history.
