The show was scheduled to be held on March 5 and 6.
Milton A&H Society committee members made the sad and difficult decision at a meeting last night. Show president Ken Leslie said it was a decision not made lightly
"Restrictions in place for social distancing surrounding COVID -19 and the NSW Health guidelines to be followed to stage such an event have been a major factor in the decision-making process to cancel," he said.
"We had to consider the impact of COVID-19 and the possible risks to the local community, committee members, judges, competitors, stallholders, visitors and the many volunteers involved in the show.
"Many features and events of the show were not able to be held such as the Ute show, dog show, wood chop and rodeo and we were looking at reduced entries to most events," he said.
The only other time the Milton Show has been cancelled was 100 years ago due to the outbreak of the Spanish Flu.
In 2020 the Milton Show was one of the few to be held following the devastating bushfires in the area.
Ken Leslie said this was such a morale booster for the district and that the show committee had really hoped to be able to deliver a show to the community again in 2021.
"Preparations will not stop in planning a great event for 2022. I would like to thank our dedicated team who have been working hard to prepare for this year's show and our sponsors for their support. We look forward to seeing you all again in 2022." he said.
The Milton Show is the latest community event to be cancelled this week.
