In a December letter to Member for South Coast Shelley Hancock from Sarah Mitchell, it was advised that the Department of Education has been working with the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment (DPIE) to assess the need for new primary and high school facilities in Milton Ulladulla.
The DPIE's population predication for the Shoalhaven region concluded that there is no significant demand for additional primary and high school teaching spaces in Milton Ulladulla.
"As a result, the Department currently has no plans for precinct at Milton for Ulladulla High School. The Department considers that Ulladulla High School remains for-for-purpose at its current location," the letter advised.
One of the focuses for the site on Croobyar Road, Milton since 2018 has been to relocate Budawang School, with the school outgrowing its current location on Camden Street, Ulladulla.
Mrs Hancock said construction is getting closer.
"As a result, the Department currently has no plans for prcienct at Milton for Ulladulla High School. The Department considers that Ulladulla High School remains for-for-purpose at its current location.'"
"It is vital that we first deliver on our commitment to relocate Budawang to provide world-class facilities for the most vulnerable students in our community," she said.
"The Government's intention has always been to utilise the entire site for education purposes and I have been meeting regularly with the Minister for Education and Early Childhood Learning Sarah Mitchell to ensure that the future use of the site remains a priority."
"Alleviating the pressure on schools in our community is my focus as your Member and I will continue to represent the community to ensure these commitments are delivered.
"Just last month the Department of Education engaged with local school principals and other government agencies, continuing our work in identifying how best to utilise the facilities."
Mrs Hancock said the site is definitely not for sale and will see new facilities for Budawang, including seven learning spaces, a hydrotherapy pool and possible expansion of the school for specific purposes (SSP).
