A driver and four passengers have been issued infringements for allegedly breaching the Public Health Order on the South Coast.

About 2pm Tuesday, August 17, officers attached to South Coast Police District stopped a Holden SS Commodore on Broulee Road, Broulee, as part of COVID compliance checks.
Officers spoke with driver, a 19-year-old man, with checks revealing he was a P1 Provisional driver - which has conditions on prohibited vehicles and a limit of one passenger.
The man underwent a roadside breath test which returned a negative result. He also underwent a roadside drug test, with the results to undergo further examination.
It will be alleged no one in the vehicle was wearing a face covering and the driver was not displaying P-plates.

Several vehicle defects were also detected.
The driver was arrested and taken to Batemans Bay Police Station, where he was banned from driving for 24 hours.
He has since been released from custody and issued with five traffic infringement notices and two infringements for breaching the Public Health Order.
His passengers - two men aged, 20 and 22, and two women, aged 18 and 19, who are all from the Batemans Bay area - were each issued with infringements for failure to comply with noticed direction - COVID-19, and not wear fitted face covering in indoor area of non-residential area.
