Shoalhaven readers are invited to take part in Together We Read, Australia's biggest online book club, through Shoalhaven Libraries this September.
Together We Read's digital book club selection for 2021 is Chris Hammer's bestselling crime novel, Scrublands.
From 1-15 September, public library members can enjoy Scrublands as an ebook or audiobook for free. Book clubs, families and individuals can all participate and enjoy the same book at the same time.
Shoalhaven Libraries Digital Resources Manager Robin Sharpe said online book clubs have always been popular, but never more so then now.
"It's a way that we can still connect while our doors are closed," she said.
While many readers are familiar with BorrowBox, Robin encouraged everyone to jump on the Libby app to grab to popular Scrublands title.
"Libby has realeased multiple borrows of the same e-book, Scrublands, which is very popular on BorrowBox and often has long wait lists," she said.
Scrublands' author Chris Hammer is delighted that it will feature in the Together We Read initiative.
"I love Australia's libraries and I love book clubs. In these times of COVID and lockdowns, what could be better than an online, digital book club? I'm really looking forward to the online discussion," he said.
To join Australia's biggest online book club, you will need a current library membership. Not a member? No problem. You can join your local library online.
Then via the free Libby app on your device, Scrublands can be downloaded as an ebook or an audiobook with no holds and no waiting between September 1-15.
Robin encouraged anyone experiencing technical difficulties either joining or borrowing to give Shoalhaven Library a call on 4429 3710 - they're happy to help.
