Dr Flore said the community needs to know the best way to be protected from COVID-19 is to be vaccinated.
"This [the close contact] has made it quite clear that COVID-19 is in the community," Dr Flore said.
"No matter where you are, you may be affected by it in some way and it is best to be vaccinated to protect your family, friends and to help minimise the load on the health system."
Staff at the centre are following all the procedures required. They are handling the situation with professionalism.
"Our staff have all been extremely professional and supportive of each other," Dr Flore said.
"They feel safe in the processes that we have had already in place for this very scenario.".
All staff have been tested and three of the closest contacts have already received negative results. They all want to get back to helping the community.
"We anticipate being closed no more than 48 hours and hope to reopen on Thursday. However, if we receive all our results back, we are ready to reopen at a moments notice," she said.
The practice's skin clinic, allied health services and especially the vaccination clinics remain unaffected.
Dr Flore is hopeful the health services will be able to handle a possible spike in cases when COVID-19 restrictions are eased.
"We remain optimistic that the community will continue to follow safe hygiene practices and get tested with the slightest of symptoms," the doctor said.
"It also reiterates the fact that we should all check-in and out [via QR code] of everywhere we visit.
"This will help us all feel safe and stay ahead of any potential outbreak."
She also has confidence in her fellow health professionals.
"We have a small but extremely dedicated health professional team that man the local community hospital," Dr Flore said.
"The hospital is staffed by GP's that also work in the GP clinics.
"It is a dedicated team and has been working above and beyond to support the community and will continue to do."
She stresses the community needs to do their part in order to keep everyone safe, which includes getting vaccinated.
The Milton Family Medical Practice has Pfizer and AstraZeneca available and runs dedicated vaccine clinics three times per week out of a separate building next door.
Plenty of appointments are available. The easiest to book is via Hotdoc or call the practice on 4454 4555.
