Will it be the incumbent Mayor Amanda Findley or will it be former leader Paul Green?
Well as of 2pm today [Thursday December 9] Amanda Findley looks to have her hands on a present under the tree.
However, she cannot open it just yet.
Ms Findley still leads the way with 34.04 per cent of the vote, following Saturday's Local Government election, with Mr Green not far behind with 25.88 per cent
Some 20,893 people want Ms Findley to lead the city and 15,882 people want Mr Green to get the top job.
Mr Green, going on a recent post, does not think the result will be known for awhile.
"Thank you to all the people who voted for me," posted a happy Mr Green.
He then went on to explain the process from "now to nearly Christmas with the counting of votes and the final announcement of who will be Shoalhaven's next mayor".
Mr Green suggested that "the distribution of preferences to determine the elected candidate(s) for Mayor and Councillors will occur in the week commencing Monday December 20".
Meanwhile, Antony Green the ABC's Chief Elections Analyst has the Greens Tonia Gray elected in Ward One along with the Shoalhaven Independent Groups' [SIG] John Wells.
In Ward two he has the Greens' Evan Christen and the SIG's Greg Watson over the line.
The SIG's Pat White is back for another term in Ward Three, along with Mark Kitchener [SIG] and Labor's Liza Butler
Yes - the counting continues......
