The national charity drive is seen as a day of hope for a cancer-free future and people across Milton and Ulladulla are asked to support the day by purchasing merchandise or making a donation.
Ulladulla Daffodil Day team leader Terri Jansen will host a fundraising stand outside Woolworths for the fifth year running.
“I’m very passionate about raising money for people with cancer and cancer research,” she said.
“There are so many people in this town who have passed away from cancer. Some it’s too late to help when they are diagnosed, some they can. I try and do my best each year to raise money for them.”
Now in its 31st year, Daffodil Day is one of the largest fundraising events in the Southern Hemisphere.
This year the Cancer Council hope to raise $2.1 million across state.
It is estimated 2832 people will be diagnosed with cancer each year in the Illawarra Shoalhaven region alone.
By supporting Cancer Council this Daffodil Day, people will be helping to beat cancer by funding vital research, support services, prevention programs and advocacy campaigns.
This year’s theme ‘For Someone I Know’, is designed to encourage people to buy merchandise or to make a donation to support someone they know currently battling cancer.
“You can help beat cancer and create a better, cancer-free future for all,” a Cancer Council NSW spokesperson said.
