The only holdup on a start to the construction of the new cottage is the money Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull promised on his waterfront walk during the last election campaign.
“We are expecting that approval very soon,” Lions Foundation president Brian Thompson said.
“In addition, we’ve got plenty of money to build it from previous fundraising via many community organisations and the Lions Preloved Book Shop.”
Local clubs, Lions, Apex and Rotary are among those who have joined forces on the project.
Interested builders have the opportunity now to contact architect Emile Jansen, to get access to the plans and discuss them.
The house will have five bedrooms and purpose built facilities with speciality equipment - a respite home to look after people with a disability while their carers get a break.
It will eliminate the need for carers to travel to Nowra for access to similar facilities.
The old cottage has been demolished and the block has been cleared ready for a construction start for the past six months.
The Lions Foundation is hoping for January or February, to be completed in October or November at a cost of $600,000.
